All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting the vehicle. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will be the authoritative document.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Telford, you must be at least 21 years old, though age limits may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A full, valid driving licence for the vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Any further requirements will be detailed in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Telford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon collecting your vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle must be returned with the same level of fuel as at pickup; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please inform us in advance if you expect a delay. You will be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during the rental period, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Comprehensive coverage details, including excess amounts, are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available to lower your financial risk. Review these thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities, including racing or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Ensure that the vehicle is used only for its intended purpose and within the specified passenger and weight limits. Traveling outside designated geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Telford will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraudulent actions.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively within the jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms.
