All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In cases of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Telford, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary based on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to provide valid payment details and a security deposit, as well as meet any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Telford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required when you collect your vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through established payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed to document the state of the car. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as received, with refueling charges applied if it is returned with less fuel. If you expect to return the vehicle late, please contact us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur additional fees. You will also be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All car rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial liability. It's advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for extra insurance. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges, impacting your overall rental cost.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in other risky behaviors. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose and must not exceed passenger or weight limits. Additionally, driving outside the designated geographical area requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Telford will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be addressed by the jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
